We loved the short walk to famous spots like Puerta del Sol and Gran Via. The room was nice enough for us and our two little kids, and the staff was friendly. Perfect for exploring the city with kids in tow!
In my wife's opinion, more pillows would make the stay more comfortable.

Nice room, good stuff
Rooms are good, but small. The street is a place of gay pick up

The location is quite central and convenient.
I found the room a bit noisy, especially from the street and neighboring rooms. There were several instances where I had to ring the bell at the entrance, frustrating, and the staff didn't seem friendly or cute . The safe in the room was out of service.

The hotel was a good home base for enjoying a safe area, close to Gran Via, the metro and the city centre as well as Plaza Mayor. Everything was good and the staff was helpful. Had a generous sized and fairly quiet room with a double bed and blackout curtains, for example, and I couldn't ask for more. The location was excellent and absolutely perfect for walking around a famed street.

The property was in the middle of the city. The staff were very-very nice and the wake up service and ironing were free of charge.

The friendly staff made check-in smooth, even with the language barrier.
The walls were quite thin, resulting in noise from neighboring rooms that disrupted our sleep.

Our quad room (sleeps 4 adults) was large enough to accommodate all of us and our luggage. The hostal is minutes away from tons of restaurants, a Dia grocery store, and the Gran Via metro stop.
Our room had no way to circulate air other than leaving the windows wide open, which meant listening to loud dance music from the club downstairs at from morning to late night. While our room had a mini-fridge, the staff will not let you use the kitchen area to even boil water. Also, one staff member was particularly unhelpful, even rude, throughout our 3 night stay. From what I could tell by observing her with other guests, this is her personality and it is not suited to tourism.

Big room and staff are nice and can speak some English.
Only problem is next door is a cafe shop or a bar, very very noisy during the whole night, several guys kept on talking loudly and laughly, I was woken up by that at 5.00 in th morning!!!!!!
